Gateway Credit Union is a strong, modern, community-based credit union serving members across Ballinasloe, Gort and the surrounding areas.

Formed from the coming together of Ballinasloe Credit Union and Gort Credit Union, Gateway Credit Union brings together a proud history of local service with the strength, scale and ambition needed to meet members’ financial needs into the future.

Today, Gateway Credit Union is a circa €190 million credit union with two branches, 32 staff, and a dedicated volunteer board. 9 members on the Board of Directors and 5 members on the Board Oversight Committee. We remain owned by our members, run for our members, and rooted in the communities we serve.

Who We Are

Gateway Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial co-operative. That means our members are at the heart of every decision we make.

Unlike traditional financial institutions, we do not exist solely to generate profits for outside shareholders. We exist to support our members, provide fair and accessible financial services, and strengthen the communities of Ballinasloe, Gort and the wider common bond area.

Our combined strength allows us to protect the personal service members value, while also offering a wider range of products, improved digital access and greater capacity to support local people, families, farms, businesses, clubs and community groups.

Members can continue to use the branch that is most convenient to them, with offices in both Ballinasloe and Gort.
